Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you use fondant on your cakes?

     I specialize in buttercream cakes that have just as smooth sides and crisp edges as a fondant cake! I will occasionally use fondant for certain cake decor elements, but I do not cover entire cakes in it.

2. How does payment work? 

     I have a retainer policy, meaning at the time of booking your order I require at least 20% of the payment upfront. This portion is non-refundable because I will turn down other orders I receive for the same event date. 

    The remaining amount needs to be made by at least one month in advance so that I can order all necessary supplies/ingredients for your cake. You are also welcome to pay in full upfront at the moment of booking if it's easier to just get it out of the way!

     If you're event is less than one month away, I will need to receive full payment right at the time of ordering.

     Your order is not considered fully booked until I receive payment, so if another client is looking to book on the same day, I will book whoever completes their payment first.

3. Why is there a booking contract?

     Upon making a deposit on your order, you are agreeing to my booking contract. This helps us both to be on the same page with terms and policies, and also holds me responsible to fulfill my obligations to you. See my full contract here.

4. What payment methods are accepted?

     My preferred payment methods is an invoice through Quickbooks. It will be emailed to the email address you provide at booking. It can be paid via debit/credit card or bank transfer. 

5. Will I need to pick up my order?

     Unless agreed upon all cakes will be picked up at my home. When it comes to tiered cakes, transport can be stressful and tricky, so I offer delivery to relive that stress from you! I do charge a delivery fee depending on the location of your event. I'm based out of Auburn, AL, so the further the delivery the higher the cost. As an example, if you're event will be in Lee County, the delivery fee will be between $35-$60. Delivery fees outside of Lee County can be closer to $70-$100. Again, I do highly recommend delivery because the last thing you want to worry about on your big day is cake transportation. Once a cake leaves my home I am not liable for any damage to cakes that are picked up and transported by the client. 

      At time of pickup I will give you my tips to have a smooth transfer. 

6. How is pricing calculated?

     Pricing includes the cost of all ingredients used in making the cake, supplies, overhead, labor, and the value of my expertise and skill. This is why more complex designs will cost more- not necessarily due to expensive ingredients, but for the time commitment involved. 

7. Can I request a flavor that's not on the menu?

     In most cases, I stick to the flavor options I have listed on my menu here.

8. Do you have gluten free/allergen free options?

     I do have gluten free/allergen free options for some cakes. Not all can be made allergy free. While I do follow good handling and food safety practices, all my products come with the warning that they are produced in a kitchen that also processes allergens (nuts, eggs, dairy, gluten). If you need to know the ingredients in a cake, buttercream, or filling for allergen reasons, feel free to message me about it.

9. Do you have the proper licenses and registration to operate?

     Happy to say I do! I have a valid food handler's permit, a cottage food license, and a business license in order to operate my out-of-home bakery.
